Sunderland Guide:
Located in the North East of England is the city of Sunderland. It used to be an industrial town with its main focus being coal-mining and ship-building, but it has become a more modern and exciting city in recent times. There are now posh apartments at the banks of the rivers where shipyards were previously the dominant feature, and the setting up of the University of Sunderland in 1992 has led to the creation of a young population with a great booming nightlife and social atmosphere.

Here you can go back into the history of the city by means of some modern displays and interactive features which tickle all your senses. The Herrington Country Park is located on what was previously an open cast coal mine. It has now been transformed into park land where you will also see the features of wildlife conservation.
